WHAT TYPE OF COCKROACHES DO YOU HAVE?
There are four commonly known cockroaches found in Cape Town South Africa, namely the German Cockroach, Oriental Cockroach, American Cockroach & the Brown Banded Cockroach.
GERMAN COCKROACHES
The German cockroach you can identify by their 2 racing stripes at the back of their head to mid-section. Found in confined spaces, food sources, behind appliances etc. The German cockroach grows 14mm in length when fully grown.
ORIENTAL COCKROACHES
The Oriental cockroach is dark red, brown black with a glossy body. Found in dark moist places like roof ceilings etc. They grow 32mm in length when fully grown.
AMERICAN COCKRAOCHES
The American cockroach are reddish brown & quite a large cockroach that can fly. Found outside in damp areas, drains, sewerage etc. They grow 38mm in length when fully grown.
BROWN BANDED COCKRAOCHES
The Brown Banded cockroach has a tan golden look with v shaped lighter bands on its wings. Looking similar to the German cockroach, the Brown Banded Cockroach is found in places where it is warm and away from moisture.
